I can see that the titles to these pictures didn't come through and this one with Abby needs some explanation. It is titled "Abby; that incey wincey spider is scaring me to death"
It is a quiet Sunday morning in our home and so thought this would be a great time to make Mom's day and write my first real post.
This has been quite a year for us. I started this spring with great intentions of at least keeping up with two of my garden beds and by June I simply went out and had the talk with them that I was sorry, but that they would be on their own for the rest of the summer. I thought I could grow my vegetable garden and fruit trees this summer, but by June I knew that the only thing I would be growing this season would be "Lillies". She is so much fun; so full of smiles and laughter and so greatly loved. She doesn't lack for any attention and I am afraid she is coming to know that.
Allyse is working hard at BYU and has come to understand just what studying means on a whole new level. Allyse has always been a serious student with great study habits so I hate to think of the freshman who come without that much under their belt....Oh wait...I think I have described my freshman year!! You don't think she was taught those great study habits by mistake do you; I was trying to save her from myself. Anyway she has felt both the dissappointment of putting in endless hours of study for a big exam only to find that she got a 76%; and the thrill of going to class and finding out that the class average was in the 60's!! Some college thrills you just can't be replicated in real life.
She has also discovered a country swing dance club where the guys not only ask you to dance but CAN dance when you get out on the floor; that quality fruit and vegetables are what she misses most about home; that you can fit amazing things into a dorm room if you work at it; that she has never seen so many "couples" swooning around a campus everywhere you look and that Boise is only a short 6 hour trip if you can bum a ride with someone and split the gas.
Aubrey is fifteen and considers that only one step closer to 16 but is excited to be changing her Drivers permit with a real license this week. Both are proof that girls of these ages can be delightful to be around and only get more so with each year.
Lilly, simply said, is The Princess; enough said.
Karl has discovered this last year that being a Bishop and a new father has it's challenges, but that when you add a very sick mother to the mix life gets way out of balance and that the phrase "getting old is a bummer" is a gross understatement. I think Mom and Dad would agree!
I am starting to get a little more control of my life and will enjoy having some time to check in on the blog and keep in touch. What a great way to do that with everyone’s busy lifes.

And Allyse if you are checking in, hello and love you lots. I know how much you are loving Provo right now. I do too. Be sure to get in touch with Uncle Dan and Kita. I hear you are going a little bit country. :) That's fun. Post once in awhile and tell us about all you are doing. Love you honey. Grandma
